SEO Tools for WordPress Site Owners

Your plugins say everything is green, but Google sees the rendered page. These free checks look at what your WordPress site actually serves.

A WordPress install hands you a lot of SEO surface out of the box: permalinks, archives, feeds, a core sitemap, and whatever Yoast or Rank Math adds on top. Many of its SEO problems tend to come from defaults nobody revisited after launch, not from weak writing. The tools below run real checks on the URL you enter, in your browser, free and without an account.

Start with the one that hides in plain sight. If the Discourage search engines from indexing this site box under Settings → Reading was ticked on a staging copy and never cleared, your pages can carry a noindex signal long after the site goes live. The Robots.txt Tester shows the rules your site really publishes, and the Meta Tag Analyzer reads the robots meta tag on a live post, so you can confirm both are open before you start blaming content.

Next, look at what WordPress creates on its own. Tag, date, author and internal-search archives often get indexed by default, and a blog with many single-use tags can end up with a long tail of near-empty listing pages competing with the posts they link to. Run a few archive URLs through the Thin Content Checker; the ones that read as low-value are candidates for a noindex setting in your SEO plugin. The Sitemap Finder & Validator then tells you whether the core wp-sitemap.xml or your plugin's sitemap is the one actually being served, and how many URLs it lists.

Speed is the slow leak. A heavy theme, a long plugin list and full-size image uploads add up, and the usual fix, minifying and combining scripts, can quietly break a slider or a checkout form. Measure first with the Page Speed & Size Test (server response time, page weight, compression), change one thing, and measure again rather than switching on every optimization at once.

When you change themes or swap SEO plugins, the All-in-One SEO Audit gives you a single 0–100 score with a fix list, and the Redirect & HTTP Status Checker confirms old permalinks still land where they should.
