SEO Tools for Shopify Store Owners

Shopify handles hosting and checkout for you; collection structure, meta tags and what your apps inject into the theme are still yours to check.

Every new app, theme update or bulk product import changes the HTML your store serves, and Shopify's admin will not always tell you what changed. That is why it helps to check the live page itself, the way a crawler sees it. The free tools on this page do exactly that: paste a product, collection or home page URL, and each one runs a real check in your browser without an account.

The tags that quietly go missing. On Online Store 2.0 themes the title tag and H1 are generated by default, but Shopify's own help docs note that custom code or an installed app can remove them. After touching theme.liquid or adding a theme app extension, run a product URL through the Meta Tag Analyzer and the Heading Structure Analyzer. Missing or doubled H1s show up immediately, as do duplicate meta descriptions.

Meta descriptions at catalog scale. Shopify has no built-in template for titles and meta descriptions, so a store with hundreds of products either writes them by hand or leans on an app. Before you write, use Keyword Research to see how shoppers actually phrase a product type, then work through your top sellers and top collections first. Spot-checking a handful of URLs afterwards is faster than trusting a bulk editor blindly.

Flat collections, changing handles. Collections cannot be nested, so every collection sits at the same level and a real category hierarchy needs a paid app or custom Liquid. Whatever workaround you pick, your URLs and product handles tend to change along the way. The Redirect & HTTP Status Checker confirms an old handle 301s to the new one rather than ending in a 404, and the Sitemap Finder & Validator shows which product and collection sitemaps Shopify is publishing.

For a broader pass after a redesign, the All-in-One SEO Audit scores a page from 0 to 100 with a fix list, and the Structured Data (Schema) Checker shows whether your theme and a review app are both printing Product markup.
